The international coalition fighting in Afghanistan says five service members have been killed in a roadside bomb attack in the southern part of the country. The International Security Assistance Force says the soldiers were killed by an improvised explosive device on Thursday, but gave no other details.

KANDAHAR CITY (AIP): ISAF troops mistakenly killed four Afghan police and wounded two others in Arghandab district of troubled Kandahar province yesterday’s evening, interior ministry said Wednesday.A press release issued by interior ministry said the foreign troops mistakenly attacked a police post in Jilawar square, Arghandab district, Kandahar province, killing four police and wounded two others.It said the foreign force also seized the police weapons, adding a team had been sent to the area to conduct investigations in to the incident.Earlier, acting police chief of Kandahar province Abdur Raziq told Afghan Islamic Press (AIP) that the policemen were offering evening prayers when foreign troops opened fire on them, causing casualties to six cops. He said the police and foreign troops had earlier exchange hot words which resulted in the shoot-out.
