Diese könnten die vom Regime Mubarak unterdrückte radikale Muslimbruderschaft an die Macht katapultieren, so der Alptraum, den israelische Journalisten in schillernden Farben ausmalen. Sollten die bislang verbotenen Islamisten am Nil das Ruder ergreifen, sei das ein Desaster für Israel, da sind sich die Analysten einig. Die Intentionen der Demonstranten in Kairo seien sicher nur die besten, schreibt Nahum Barnea, Israels wohl prominentester Kolumnist in der "Yedioth". "Das Problem mit den guten Intentionen ist, dass sie im Nahen Osten oft den Weg zur Hölle pflastern."

The Egyptian regime became an ally of the Israeli occupation. The joint siege of Gaza is irrefutable proof of that. The Egyptian people didn't like it. They never liked the peace agreement with Israel, in which Israel committed itself to "respect the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people" but never kept its word. Instead, the people of Egypt got the scenes of Operation Cast Lead.
