Iran's Defense, Science Bodies Launch Cooperation to Design Light Aircraft
TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran's Defense Ministry and the Presidential Office for Science and Technology signed an agreement on designing light planes and choppers in a two-year project.

The deal requires the Defense Ministry to design 4 to 19-seater passenger planes and choppers which can seat 2 to 8 passengers.
"This contract was concluded on technologies related to choppers and light 4 to 19-seater planes and we will try to fulfill this project through cooperation with the other bodies, but it (the project) will be centered in the Defense Ministry," Vahidi said.

Vahidi announced in October that his ministry is ready to mass-produce the home-made IRAN-140 passenger and cargo plane.
"Once the Roads and Transportation Ministry makes the decision for purchasing such airplanes from the Defense Ministry, the Ministry is fully prepared to manufacture them," Vahidi told FNA at the time.
