Neues gepanzertes Fahrzeug für die russischen Streitkräfte:

VPK-3927 Volk (eng. Wolf) armored vehicles family is a family of new vehicles from recent Forum Engineering technologies 2010 (IDELF-2010), developed by Military Industrial Company LLC (Military division of GAZ group).
It should be noted that the vehicles showed at the exhibition, were made recently, just several weeks before the exhibition, and VPK-39273 (6x6) was assembled for two days before the opening. According to the manufacturers, they are planning to start complete trials of the vehicles right after the exhibitions.

I think there is the most full information about Volk in the web. I tried to collect all the data MIC LLC officials told me.

Volk family armored vehicles with 1.5 t and 2.5 t capacity were developed to comply with the requirements of Army and Law Enforcement units. The vehicles were designed according to global trends of security with the high level of unification with the other vehicles of the family. They are based on a modular design principle with a focus on existing and future domestic serial production.

Volk armored vehicles family consists of three groups: armored, unarmored and commercial civilian cars. The first group of armored vehicles is currently in testing phase, the other groups are under development. The group of armored vehicles includes: basic car VPK-3927 with protected cabin and separate armored functional back module, VPK-39271 with a whole protected functional module joint with cabin (was not shown on the exhibition); VPK-39272 vehicle to transport cargo and personnel with the ability for installation of various functional modules; VPK-39273 6x6 vehicle with protected cabin and separate functional rear module.

According to the developers, the unique technical capabilities of the vehicles determine the need for commercial off-road vehicles for internal and external markets.

Unified platform allows to use the parts from Volk armored vehicles for the civil versions. This solution reduces development costs and preparation of production. Now comes the development of civil vehicles: SUV, special platform and cargo version.
There are several new design solutions applied on Volk armored vehicles family: a unified platform, independent hydropneumatic suspension with height adjustment, enhanced protectection of cabin, engine compartment and the functional module, new diesel engine YaMZ-5347, onboard information control system (BIUS), modular design. Volk family vehicles have a number of new consumer qualities, such as: trafficability, maneuverability, unification and high capacity.

The conception of protection of vehicles is based on the provision of the highest ballistic and mine protection of vehicle and personnel. The design of frame-panel armor provides its assembly and disassembly in field conditions without the use of special tools. Ballistic protection is STANAG 4569 level 3 with the possibility of increasing the level. Mine protection is 1 level (2 after upgrade).

Volk vehicles have advanced engine YaMZ-5347 Euro-4. The engine has modernization reserve for power to 300 hp. Transmission and transfer gearbox provides a resource of 250 thousand km with engine power of 240 hp.
Independent hydropneumatic suspension with height adjustment allows to change the ground clearance from 250 mm to 500 mm and move off road at speed up to 55-60 km/h.

The angle of the front and rear overhang varies depending on the position of the suspension from 45 to 55 degrees. The minimum turn radius is 7 m.

The unification of the vehicles includes unified power units, cabins, suspension, transmission, onboard information control system and protection features. The internal volume of the cabin is 2.4 cubic meters, the functional module of VPK-3927 vehicle - 4.7 cubic meters, VPK-39271 mono space module- 7.2 cubic meters, and the volume VPK-39273 6x6 module is 10,3 cubic meters.

Onboard information control system (BIUS) provides a control function and diagnosis of basic units and components of vehicles with a record of their parameters. The engine is controlled by 15 parameters: pressure, temperature, speed, fuel supply, cooling system, lubricating system. Transmission and tires are controlled by temperature and pressure. Hydraulic and suspension adjustment system is controlled in 24 points. Malfunction of BIUS is not connected with mobility of the vehicle.
