Zitat:5th Development Plan only way forward
TEHRAN, Jan. 12 (MNA) -- Proper implementation of the general policies of Iran’s Fifth Five-Year Development Plan (2010-2015) is the only way to run the country, Expediency Council Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani said here on Monday.
He made the remarks in a meeting with members of the Association of Clergymen MPs.
On Saturday, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei outlined the general policies of the Fifth Development Plan, which center round cultural, scientific, social, economic, political, defense, and security issues.
Rafsanjani said lawmakers bear a great responsibility with regard to the plan and called on all officials to adopt the plan’s policies when it is approved by parliament.
“The Majlis, with its lofty position, has an important duty in this respect,” he noted.
The EC chairman criticized the government for its excessive dependence on oil and gas revenues, adding that with an economy that is not diversified, fluctuations in oil revenues seriously affect the national budget.
He also called for the effective privatization of state-run companies as envisaged in Article 44 of the Constitution, saying this is the right way to solve the country’s problems.
“Legal obstacles have been removed” but the problem is properly managing the resources of the country’s private sector, Rafsanjani noted.
