(Asien) Landstreitkräfte Südkoreas
#31
WideMasta:

http://english.yonhapnews.co.kr/news/20 ... l?37c20148

Zitat:SEOUL, June 7 (Yonhap) -- South Korea has developed a wheeled armored combat vehicle that can greatly enhance the mobility and striking power of its infantry troops, the defense acquisition agency said Tuesday.

The Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA)'s wheeled armored vehicle project, undertaken by defense maker Hyundai Rotem since 2012, has been successfully completed, DAPA said in a statement. It said the locally built vehicle passed its final qualification test on May 9.

The project was aimed at improving the mobility, survivability and hitting power of front line and rear echelon infantry troops as their mission areas have expanded the military's reorganization plan, the agency noted.

Two armored combat vehicles, the K808 and K806, were developed as part of the project. The K808 is designed for speedy troop deployment and reconnaissance missions in front line areas, including mountainous regions, while the K806 is intended for use in mobile strike and reconnaissance missions in the rear.

Zitat:"The new wheeled armored vehicles, equipped with cutting-edge technologies, can move swiftly on the ground as well as cross water obstacles, carry heavy firepower and protect the troops inside that will enormously increase infantry units' operability," the statement also said.

Zitat:The new vehicles could later be adapted to carry 30 millimeter anti-aircraft guns and be used as wheeled combat command centers, DAPA pointed out. The agency said the new armored vehicles may find an export market, since they enjoy a price advantage and are more capable vehicles overall than those currently on the market.

https://www.edrmagazine.eu/south-korea-t...its-ngcv-s

Zitat:It is known as Tiger 4.0 and should bring the Republic of Korea Army (ROKA) into the future battlefield well equipped to fight opponents deploying next generation systems. A key element of that plan is the upgrade of ROKA armoured vehicles, first to improve their protection and firepower, then to improve their effectiveness trough a full networking based on BMS and radio.

Zitat:Rafael is probably the only or one of the very few companies that can offer a protection solution that includes active, passive and reactive system. “Our Trophy is a combat proven solution [with the Israeli Defence Forces], and following a weight and size reduction it can now be fitted from 6×6 to Main Battle Tanks,” Rafael’s active protection system customers having bagged orders from export customers, among them the US Army. The Haifa-based company was a pioneer in reactive armour elements, and is still improving its reactive and passive armour packages, reducing weight and increasing protection, which is now over Level 6, underbelly kits for improving protection against mines and IEDs being also part of its portfolio.

Zitat:Light to medium calibre solutions are available, with the possibility of integrating the Spike 5th generation missile system, a solution already available on the Samson 30 RCWS, usually armed with the Northrop Grumman Mk44 Bushmaster II 30 mm chain gun. Beside the mid- to long-range versions of its Spike, which give the vehicle a considerable lethal range, Rafael is also proposing its Spike Firefly, the 3 kg MTOW rotary wing loitering munition with a 30 minutes endurance, capable to provide real-time situational awareness at distance before diving onto the target to destroy it; “We can install the Firefly launch tubes either on the turret or on the vehicle itself,” Udi N. explains, adding that those mentioned are the unclassified solutions that are being proposed, other remaining under wrap.

Zitat:South Korea advances plan for next-generation amphibious assault vehicle

Seoul has taken further steps to progress the next generation of its indigenously developed Korea Amphibious Assault Vehicle (KAAV) with plans to operationally field the new equipment by 2036.

South Korea's Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) announced on 28 September that the country will allocate about KRW2.1 trillion (USD1.78 billion) towards the programme, referred to by the agency as the ‘Landing Assault Armoured Vehicle-II' project.

The decision was taken at the 139th meeting of the Defense Project Promotion Committee that was held a day before DAPA's announcement, the agency added. [...] The Republic of Korea Marine Corps (RoKMC) is estimated to operate a fleet of about 170 KAAV units. The equipment is based on the BAE Systems' AAV7A1 series of armoured vehicles and manufactured in-country by Samsung Techwin (now Hanwha Defense).

Siehe XM29/K11.

Neues südkoreanisches SPAAG auf 8 x 8-Chassis...
Zitat:South Korea deploys new SPAAG syste

The Republic of Korea (RoK) Armed Forces has started deployment of a new 30 mm self-propelled anti-aircraft gun (SPAAG) system produced by Hanwha Defense. [...] The SPAAG, based on the chassis of Hyundai Rotem's K808 8×8 armoured vehicle, will replace the 20 mm M167 Vulcan Air Defense System that has been operational for more than 40 years in South Korea's army, air force, and marine corps.

The SPAAG is expected to replace the M167 in stages, till the early 2030s. Speaking to Janes , a South Korean military official said that a total of 300 SPAAGs would be deployed across the RoK Armed Forces.

https://bulgarianmilitary.com/2022/09/21...2-7mm-rws/

Zitat:The K-MPF uses the technology of the K21 infantry fighting vehicle, the Korean Engineer Combat Vehicle, the Line of Sight Precision Strike System, and the Multi-Role Light Combat Vehicle.

The Korean-style fire support combat vehicle is equipped with a 105 mm low-pressure gun, two anti-tank missiles, RCWS, and an active protection system. It weighs 25-30 tons and has a crew of three. It has an automatic loader and uses a 750-horsepower engine.

According to Hanwha Defense, this armored vehicle was created out of unavoidable necessity and imminent threat to enter North Korean territory. The K-MPF is tailored to the poor road conditions of North Korea, where the terrain is rough.

The K-MPF has a precision missile strike system. The current range is 7 km, but the manufacturer believes that it will be increased to 25 km. The K-MPF can fire 12 missiles. Hanwha Defense has introduced that it can be used for precision strike operations of brigade-level mechanized units.

Zitat:K-MPF identifies threats at an early stage through situational awareness from artificial intelligence and increases survivability while working in hazardous areas by adding a remote control function. The combat vehicle is equipped with special robots and an RCWS complex

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mXZw_YGzxCc

Zitat:Across other videos I've often hinted at the Republic of Korea as something of a military outlier. A major power that, at a time that other forces are battling a shortage of artillery, manpower or heavy equipment - still had all of the above at its disposal in serious quantities.

Because whereas many other nations in places like Europe embraced the peace dividend of the 1990s, the ROK's strategic context remained complex and threatening - with North Korea's massive conventional (and now nuclear) arsenal constantly ready to resume a war that never officially ended.

The ROK's defence strategy is a story of a nation having to make sacrifices and prioritise in order to contain and deter serious threats within the limits of the nation's limited resources. It's an interesting study in a major military for whom mass and artillery firepower remain key tools of deterrence and security - and it is likewise a story of a nation that has gone from a minor actor in the international arms market, to an increasingly major player.

And so today, I want to talk about the Republic of Korea, its unique strategic environment, and the strategy it's embraced to survive and thrive in it.

Dezember 2023
[Bild: https://www.opex360.com/wp-content/uploa...231227.jpg]
