GE Aerospace stated in a presentation for the 2024 GE Aerospace Investor Day that Baykar’s AKINCI UCAV is to be supplied with 800 hp H80 turboprop engines.



GE, together with Italy-based Avio Aero, is integrating and supplying H80 turboprop engines with a power rating of 800 hp.

It is known that AKINCI-C performed its maiden flight, equipped with a pair of 850 hp engines, in early 2024. H85 in the H80 series of turboprops yield this exact power rating.

Baykar’s AKINCI UCAV struck two ground targets with high accuracy using two BOZOK and one KAYI-30 laser/GNSS-guided munitions developed by TÜBİTAK SAGE.

The test announced by Baykar includes consecutive hits on two ground targets using a pair of BOZOK munitions stacked under one pylon, followed by a single KAYI-30.

The two munitions have also been tested from the Bayraktar TB2 armed UAV.

During the test conducted in Çorlu, KIZILELMA prototypes PT3 and PT5 carried out a formation flight with an autonomous combat pilot, supported by smart fleet algorithms. This marked the first time in the history of global aviation that two unmanned fighter aircraft performed a close formation flight autonomously.

The development of Türkiye’s first-ever unmanned fighter aircraft, Bayraktar KIZILELMA, continues with the integration of new capabilities. As part of ongoing activities at the AKINCI Flight Training and Test Center in Çorlu, two Bayraktar KIZILELMA prototypes carried out a simultaneous mission in the skies.


Yet Another Unprecedented Achievement by KIZILELMA
During the test, Bayraktar KIZILELMA’s third and fifth prototypes, PT3 and PT5, took off sequentially. After climbing to altitude, the unmanned fighter aircraft operated in a coordinated manner, performing a formation flight with an autonomous combat pilot enabled by Baykar’s self-developed smart fleet autonomy algorithms. This marked the first time in global aviation history that two unmanned fighter aircraft performed a close formation flight autonomously. This technological advancement allows autonomous systems to execute complex aerial missions traditionally performed by manned fighter aircraft. The capability enables multiple unmanned platforms to autonomously position themselves and conduct joint missions under a single leader’s command.

While TOLUN IIR was used against a static target, an armoured vehicle, in its first test, this test involved a moving target towed by a remotely driven vehicle. Observations on the video indicate that the target speed was well above 30 km/h.

In its last test of 2025, Baykar’s KIZILELMA unmanned fighter flew with ASELSAN’s KARAT IRST to enable enhanced detection and tracking of low RCS targets.

Not long after the tests with MURAD 100-A AESA radar and TOYGUN EOTS, KIZILELMA performed its first test flight with ASELSAN’s KARAT IRST. KARAT IRST tracked an air target, with the footage included in the video shared by Baykar regarding the test.

KIZILELMA was presented with KARAT IRST for the first time during IDEF2025, alongside TOYGUN EOTS.

ASELSAN stated that MURAD 100-A AESA radar will be integrated on TUSAŞ’s ANKA-III stealth UCAV following F-16, AKINCI UCAV, and KIZILELMA unmanned fighter.

Following the successful tests onboard F-16 with ÖZGÜR modernisation package, AKINCI UCAV, and KIZILELMA UCAV (Including BVR hit with GÖKDOĞAN missile), MURAD 100-A AESA radar is headed for TUSAŞ’s ANKA-III stealth UCAV.

ASELSAN did not provide details on the integration timeline or modifications, but judging from MURAD 100-A’s size and the possible available space in ANKA-III’s current form, some changes to ANKA-III are sure to come.

Due to the requirement for space inside the nose section, it is possible to see an ANKA-III prototype with provision for MURAD 100-A at the nose section in the near future.

Alternatively, MURAD might be adapted for ANKA-III as leading-edge arrays present on some fighter designs like Su-57. This is possible thanks to the flexibility of AESA radars when it comes to configuration. This case represents wider coverage in terms of angle due to the antenna layout, which is potentially advantageous for SAR or EW modes of MURAD radar.

Following the testing campaign of 2025 with three prototypes, the first serial unit of Baykar’s KIZILELMA unmanned fighter, S1, completed its maiden flight.

The maiden flight of KIZILELMA S1 involved the system identification test, as stated by Baykar on social media. TOYGUN EOTS or KARAT IRST are not seen on the first serial production unit, which means Baykar could be waiting for serial production deliveries of the critical optical systems tested towards the end of 2025.

Previously, Baykar’s Flight Training and Test Director Halil Akar speaking to İhlas News Agency stated that two serial production KIZILELMA unmanned fighters will be delivered in the first quarter of 2026.

Considering the targeted timeframe for delivery, it is understood that it will not be long before KIZILELMA’s first serial production units will be put on sensors and weapon tests for verification.

The last few months of 2025 were critical for KIZILELMA with an array of weapon and sensor tests:

-Guided Bombs (TOLUN SDB and TEBER-82 Laser/GNSS Guided Bomb)

-MURAD 100-A AESA Radar

It was seen that MURAD 100-A was tested in weather mode and a combined mode that superimposes weather mapping to the simultaneous tracking of both air and surface targets.

Sowohl die Integration des MURAD Radar als die der Loitering Munition Eren stellen einen wichtigen Meilenstein da das die Akinci zur Abwehr von Bedrohungen aus der Luft eingesetzt werden kann. Mit der Eren Loitering Munition lassen sich nebenBodenzielen auch Luftziele wie Drohnen, Hubschrauber oder weniger bewegliche Flugzeuge wie z.B Transportflugzeuge bekämpfen.

Baykar’s KIZILELMA unmanned fighter has completed a performance verification test with ASELSAN’s TOYGUN 100 EOTS, tracking a moving vehicle dead-centre.

A new test with TOYGUN onboard KIZILELMA saw the tracking of a moving truck on a highway, demonstrating the precise tracking capabilities of the EOTS to be fielded on Turkish stealth aircraft.

TOYGUN is one of the three targeting sensors to be used on KIZILELMA, alongside MURAD 100-A AESA radar (Initial production, MURAD 200-A with improved LPI capabilities planned) and KARAT IRST.
