Critical Seabed Infrastructure Protection – The Critical Seabed Infrastructure Protection (CSIP) project aims at increasing the EU’s operational efficiency in the protection of critical maritime infrastructure by making best use of current, and the development of future, underwater assets.
The six participating Member States are: Italy, Germany, Spain, France, Portugal, and Sweden. An initial project timeline for the collection and harmonisation of requirements will run until 2024 with a possible agreement on a common procurement foreseen in 2028.

Anstatt nun wieder Spezial-U-Boote anzuschaffen nur zur Überwachung, sollte die Überwachung vielleicht mehr als eine Gesamtaufgabe gesehen werden, zu der alle Systeme, und vielleicht auch zivile Schiffe (Kreuzfahrtschiffe? Fischkutter?) beitragen müssen.
Dann bleibt nur noch der Teil, konkret auf Meldungen zu reagieren, und dazu ist so ein Schiff wie es die Briten haben sicher sehr hilfreich, also beispielsweise wenn es um russische Sensoren am Meeresgrund geht. Andererseits braucht's hier sicher keine nationalen Lösungen, sondern innereuropäischen Datenaustausch und Hilfeleistung.
