Baykar’s KIZILELMA unmanned fighter, following the completion of critical tests in 2025, is set to be delivered to the Turkish Air Force in early 2026.

Baykar’s Flight Training and Test Director Halil Akar, speaking to İhlas News Agency, stated that two serial production KIZILELMA unmanned fighters will be delivered in the first quarter of 2026. Five prototypes have been built for the tests prior to the delivery phase but a few more is likely to be added after the beginning of the deliveries, in a similar fashion to AKINCI UCAV. One of the first reasons is the fact that KIZILELMA is being developed in several configurations to introduce higher performance.

Sind die denn dann schon fertig? Ich dachte, die fliegen gerade einmal und haben die erste Sensorik gestestet Oder soll die türkishe Luftwaffe Tests machen?

Ankara has stationed F-16 fighter jets in Mogadishu as it moves to safeguard energy and infrastructure projects, according to Middle East Eye.
January 29, 2026Clash Report

Tüerkiye has deployed three F-16 fighter jets to Somalia as part of a broader strategy to protect its growing economic and strategic interests in the country, according to a report by Middle East Eye, marking a significant escalation in Ankara’s military presence in the Horn of Africa.

Military Deployment and Infrastructure Preparations
Somali officials familiar with the matter told Middle East Eye that Türkiye completed construction of a dedicated facility at Mogadishu’s international airport to host the fighter jets. Turkish engineers were reportedly on site for several days ahead of the deployment, preparing hangars and support infrastructure.

Satellite imagery reviewed by the outlet shows new hangar construction at the airport since September, while open-source flight data indicates an uptick in Turkish cargo flights over the past ten days, likely transporting spare parts and ammunition.

A source cited by Middle East Eye said the deployment is a preliminary step ahead of Ankara’s plan to dispatch an offshore oil exploration platform to Somali waters later this year. Turkish officials are also reportedly planning a spaceport project in northern Mogadishu.

Turkish Air Force gets Smart ammunition HGK-84 kits TurDef
Turkish Defence Ministry (MoD) said during its weekly press briefing that its ASFAT company has delivered Precision Guidance Kits to the Air Force Command. ASFAT later stated that various quantities of guidance kits developed in collaboration with TÜBİTAK SAGE under the Precision Guidance Kit (HGK-84) Supply Project have been delivered to the Air Force Command.

The HGK-84 is a precision guidance kit designed to convert standard Mk-84 general-purpose bombs into precision-guided munitions using an inertial navigation system supported by GPS. The system enables conventional free-fall bombs to strike targets with significantly improved accuracy.

Turkish Air Force Deploys SÜPER ŞİMŞEK UAV for Training TurDef
Turkish Air Force was spotted using TUSAŞ’s SÜPER ŞİMŞEK multi-role UAV for training as a target for the first time during the Anatolian Eagle 2026/1 Training.

Shortly after TUSAŞ’s post showing AKSUNGUR UCAV with a pair of SÜPER ŞİMŞEK UAVs, the context appeared on the Turkish MoD’s training footage not long after.

Şht.Hv.Plt.Yb. Gökhan Korkmaz National Anatolian Eagle 2026/1 Training event held in Konya included the employment of the SÜPER ŞİMŞEK UAV, dropped by AKSUNGUR UCAV. This marks the first time that TUSAŞ’s new multi-role UAV is seen to be used as a practice target.

After its launch from AKSUNGUR UCAV and the simulated engagement performed using specialised training pods to simulate missile launches, the UAV parachuted down for reuse.

A C-130J Super Hercules transport aircraft being refurbished by the Turkish Air Force has been seen for the first time at Marshall Aerospace facilities.

One of the Ex-RAF C-130J transport aircraft, which is to expand the Turkish Air Force’s logistics capabilities, has made its first public appearance during a visit by the Turkish Air Force delegation to the facilities of the UK-based Marshall Aerospace.

Marshall Aerospace is responsible for the refurbishment of the 12 C-130J Super Hercules transport aircraft to be delivered to the Turkish Air Force to ensure the aircraft will be in condition for active service after their retirement from the RAF service.

The delegation from the Turkish Air Force inspected the centre wing box replacement process, which takes considerable time and effort as a critical structural component. In addition to this, other structure replacements, paint strip, surveys, and depth maintenance are to be performed on the C-130Js over the course of the next few years to ensure fitness for operation.
