Die Entfernung zwischen Khartum und Israel ist ein wenig kürzer als die zwischen Israel und wichtigen iranischen Nuklearanlagen. Offenbar konnten die israelischen Kampfflugzeuge auch die Radarsysteme austricksen und unerkannt die 1.700 km hin und dieselbe Distanz zurückfliegen. Zwar ist der Sudan militärisch in keiner Weise mit dem Iran vergleichbar, das vermutlich ebenso Syrien über weit bessere Luftabwehrwaffen verfügt, aber die die Möglichkeit eines Angriffs ist nun nicht mehr zu übersehen.
