TAYFUN SRBM as Turkiye's First Hypersonic Hitter
ROKETSAN has published the technical specifications of TAYFUN SRBM, Turkiye's first hypersonic-cruising missile.
This infographic covers the first variant of TAYFUN, which was fired from a BORA SRBM canister and reached a range of more than 500 km. In addition to fitting into the BORA canister, which measures 7.1 m in length, TAYFUN is also more compact at 6.5 m and weighs 2300 kg versus BORA's 2500 kg.
An important part of the infographic is the official confirmation that TAYFUN is cruising at hypersonic speeds, which allows it to penetrate most enemy air defence systems.

ROKETSAN Shows Mysterious Missile Footage
ROKETSAN's post celebrating the 101st anniversary of the Turkish Republic's foundation showed a mysterious missile exiting from the launcher.
While the footage of the exit from the launcher confirms it is a missile, it likely isn't the CENK ballistic missile, as the fins on the front and the back were clearly visible, while the mysterious missile on the video has none.
The looks strongly suggest it is a new ballistic missile, but the type (in terms of range) cannot be predicted as there isn't a way to find a reference for scaling.
ROKETSAN revealed the TAYFUN and CENK ballistic missiles in 2022 and 2023, respectively. In the first test, TAYFUN was tested at a range beyond 500 km, while CENK's loading on a trailer launcher was shown. No firing test has been announced so far.
TAYFUN is an SRBM capable of hypersonic speeds at mid-course and can be regarded as a successor to BORA in terms of capabilities. On the other hand, CENK is a larger missile with a significantly longer range.

TAYFUN Hits the Target Dead-Center in Long-Range Test TurDef
ROKETSAN TAYFUN ballistic missile launched from the BOZAT 8x8 vehicle successfully hit the sea target during the long-range firing test.
ROKETSAN shared the test footage where TAYFUN was launched in a near-vertical position and quickly performed a pull-down manoeuvre to adjust its trajectory. The missile hit the floating ring target on the sea at the end of the test.
The missile is considered an “extended” version of TAYFUN at a length of more than eight meters as opposed to the baseline variant with a length of 6.5 m. The canister is noticeably longer than the BORA SRBM’s, which might be why ROKETSAN switched to a larger 8x8 truck.
TAYFUN is a significantly more capable SRBM than BORA, with hypersonic mid-course speed, longer range, mid-flight manoeuvres, and improved guidance. The most recent hint regarding TAYFUN’s range is President Erdoğan statement as “The stockpile of 800 km-range missiles will be increased”.
So far, TAYFUN has been launched from trucks, but other platforms, such as warships, are under consideration. Theoretically, baseline TAYFUN can fit inside MİDLAS VLS cells with design modifications to minimise pre-launch cross-section. A similar practice can be observed in South Korean Hyunmoo 4-4 and Chinese YJ-21 ballistic missiles.

(DEFENCE SECURITY ASIA) – In a display of formidable military prowess, Turkiye’s defense industry has reached a new pinnacle as the TAYFUN short-range ballistic missile (SRBM) roared through the skies, striking its sea surface target with surgical precision during its third test launch.
The TAYFUN SRBM is developed by Turkish defense firm ROKETSAN.
“TAYFUN successfully met the range and precision criteria set for it during the latest test launch. This test confirmed the system’s performance parameters and made significant contributions to its development process,” said President of Turkiye’s Defense Industry Agency (SSB), Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün.
According to Turkish defense portal SavunmaSanayiST.com, the third test launch of the TAYFUN SRBM was conducted from Rize-Artvin Airport.
During the test, which demonstrated the missile’s capability to strike targets over 500 km away, both air and maritime traffic were temporarily disrupted across an area spanning 700 km.

TAYFUN successfully fulfilled its mission, accurately hitting the designated sea target.
“Considering that ballistic missiles typically detonate within 50-100 meters of their target, TAYFUN’s centimeter-level accuracy has become a source of pride for Turkiye’s defense industry,” the statement added.
Additionally, there are indications of different configurations being developed for the TAYFUN SRBM.
While mass production of TAYFUN is underway for the Turkish Land Forces, there is speculation that a variant designed for striking naval targets could be developed in the future, raising questions about the potential creation of an anti-ship ballistic missile variant.
The missile measures approximately 6.5 meters in length, has a diameter of 610 mm, and weighs around 2,300 kilograms.
Utilizing a ‘coordinate guidance system’ developed by ROKETSAN, the SRBM is equipped with a pre-shaped fragmentation warhead.
Designed to destroy strategic facilities and targets, TAYFUN is also built to withstand electronic warfare
