FNSS’s new generation PARS ALPHA 8x8 armoured fighting vehicle has debuted at the “World Defense Show” organised in Saudi Arabia.
PARS ALPHA is the fifth generation of the PARS family of armoured vehicles. Unlike the predecessors, PARS ALPHA’s engine is placed on the front.

PARS ALPHA offers improvements in mobility compared to PARS IV 8x8 of the previous generation. The vehicle can overcome 70 per cent gradients, side slopes of 40 per cent, 2.4-meter trenches, and 0.8-meter vertical obstacles. The previous models could overcome gradients of 60 per cent and smaller trenches. The range is increased to 800 km from PARS IV 8x8’s 600 km, and the maximum road speed is increased to 115 km/h from 100 km/h.

ASELSAN General Manager Ahmet Akyol made special statements to Defence Turk within the scope of the World Defense Show (WDS) Fair, which was held for the second time in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, between 04-08 February 2024. In this context, Akyol stated that the GÜRZ air defense system developed by ASELSAN will be introduced to the Turkish Armed Forces inventory.

Making special statements to Defence Turk, Akyol used the following statements:

“Air defense has an important place in ASELSAN’s activities. We brought our GÜRZ air defense system here for the first time. We exhibited it outside Türkiye after the IDEF’23 Fair. We brought the system itself. We have introduced all our products, from KORKUT to SİPER, to end users. We are working on close and very close air defense systems with the relevant authorities here. I find the fair successful in terms of showing the level Türkiye has reached.

We bring together several competencies in GÜRZ’s concept. We have our KORKUT system in inventory. We have a HİSAR system. There is SUNGUR developed by our ROKETSAN. The main purpose of GÜRZ is to be mobile. It also provides very close air defense with its KORKUT equivalent 35 mm ammunition. With the SUNGUR, HİSAR, BOZDOĞAN and GÖKDOĞAN missiles on board, we offer a bunch of competencies on a mobile basis in the same system. It also has an electronic mixing system. We have a very advanced search radar. We have systems behind it such as fire control radar, fire control system, laser range finder, friend or foe identification system. GÜRZ is a system that selects the most effective weapon against different targets with a smart algorithm and can engage at close range. The first shots were fired. Currently, efforts are ongoing to include it in the Turkish Armed Forces’ inventory. We will add it to our army’s inventory within a few years. It’s a game-changing system.”

ASELSAN’s SURALP Weapon Locating Radar Spotted on Duty

SURALP (STR) Weapon Locating Radar was spotted during Commander-in-Chief of the Turkish Land Forces Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu’s visit to Şırnak. Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu’s inspection visit included a base in the Zinar Mountain, part of the Claw-Lightning Operation Zone, 23rd Infantry Division Command, and 48th Border Brigade Command. The Turkish MoD announced SURALP to have entered the inventory in 2021.

SURALP, developed by ASELSAN to detect and track RAM (Rocket-Artillery-Mortar) group of threats to provide situational awareness and direct fire support assets to respond, was spotted during the visit.

SURALP’s placement is important thanks to the alert and quick response capabilities it brings to the service of Turkish personnel. Terrorist organisations PKK and YPG are known to have attacked the bases in operation zones using mortars and rockets. A range of 250 km (Previously announced as 100 km) can cover a large portion of the operation zone.
