Darüber hinaus hat Russland rein pragmatische Interessen in Irak. Es ist sehr wahrscheinlich, dass, wenn wir unsere Atomprogramme in Iran einstellen, an unsere Stelle sehr schnell amerikanische Spezialisten treten. Es ist nicht auszuschließen, dass Iran sich in diesem Fall in den Augen der USA wunderbarerweise in einen friedliebenden und für die internationale Kontrolle durchsichtigen Staat verwandeln würde.
Die größte Schwäche der Argumenten der USA besteht meiner Meinung nach in dieser unverhüllten Engagiertheit sowie in den negativen Erfahrungen der Einmischung unter dem gleichen Vorwand in die Angelegenheiten Iraks. Selbst wenn die USA in Vielem Recht haben, können diese beiden Umstände nicht umhin, deren Erklärungen und Handlungen gegenüber Iran in Zweifel zu ziehen.

Er wird von einem Teil der Linken und einem Teil der Konservativen, die entscheidende Machtzentren im Iran in der Hand haben, unterstützt.

Die Korrespondentin der liberalen Tageszeitung "Hamasteghi" hatte in einer Serie von Artikeln über heimliche Diätenerhöhungen konservativer Parlamentsabgeordneter berichtet, die inzwischen die Mehrheitsfraktion bilden.
Für die Betroffenen sind die Enthüllungen höchst peinlich. Während ihres Wahlkampfes hatten sie versprochen, ihre Diäten und andere Vergünstigungen zu kürzen und als "gute Moslems dem Materialismus abzuschwören".
Die hervorragend dokumentierten Berichte von Ali-Nejad beweisen nun das Gegenteil. "Die konserativen Abgeordneten seien in Wirklichkeit Heuchler", behauptet die Journalistin, die Gehaltsabrechnungen und andere Belege von der liberalen Opposition bekam. Ganz besonders pikant ist die Tatsache, dass die Volksvertreter offenbar auch "Zuwendungen" von den religiösen Stiftungen erhielten, die große Bereiche der iranischen Wirtschaft kontrollieren.

Thwarting an attack in its very early stages is part of Iran's military strategy, he said.
Die Vorbereitungen auf eine militärische Auseinandersetzung hat auf beiden Seiten bereits begonnen. Auch wenn ich derzeit nicht davon ausgehe, dass es zu einer militärischen Konfrontation kommen wird.

Andererseits gehört der Iran ja auch nicht gerade zu den Ländern, die im Verdacht stehen, zuverlässig alle Verträge zu erfüllen.... (und nein, ich meine jetzt nicht den NPT, sondern z.B. Übereinkünfte in Bezug auf Diplomaten.)

No doubt there are many national security professionals in Washington who are truly worried about Iran's nuclear program, just as there were many professionals who were genuinely worried about Iraqi weapons capabilities. I respect this. But no war is ever prompted by one factor alone, and it is evident from the public record that many considerations, including oil, played a role in the administration's decision to invade Iraq.
Likewise, it is reasonable to assume that many factors -- again including oil -- are playing a role in the decision-making now underway over a possible assault on Iran.

Iran also sits athwart the Strait of Hormuz, the narrow waterway through which, daily, 40% of the world's oil exports pass. In addition, Iran is becoming a major supplier of oil and natural gas to China, India, and Japan, thereby giving Tehran additional clout in world affairs.

Having said this, let me proceed to an assessment of Iran's future energy potential. According to the most recent tally by Oil and Gas Journal, Iran houses the second-largest pool of untapped petroleum in the world, an estimated 125.8 billion barrels.

And it is not just oil that Iran possesses in great abundance, but also natural gas. According to Oil and Gas Journal, Iran has an estimated 940 trillion cubic feet of gas, or approximately 16% of total world reserves. (Only Russia, with 1,680 trillion cubic feet, has a larger supply.)

What all this means is that Iran will play a critical role in the world's future energy equation.

No doubt the major U.S. energy companies would love to be working with Iran today in developing these vast oil and gas supplies. At present, however, they are prohibited from doing so by Executive Order (EO) 12959, signed by President Clinton in 1995 and renewed by President Bush in March 2004.
The United States has also threatened to punish foreign firms that do business in Iran (under the Iran-Libya Sanctions Act of 1996), but this has not deterred many large companies from seeking access to Iran's reserves.

Die Diagnose muss von drei ÄrztInnen bestätigt werden; dem Abbruch müssen zudem beide Elternteile zustimmen. ÄrztInnen, die die Abtreibung vornehmen, stehen künftig nicht mehr unter Strafe. Der von Ultrakonservativen dominierte Wächterrat muss noch prüfen, ob das Gesetz mit der Verfassung und dem islamischen Recht übereinstimmt.
Bisher sind Abtreibungen nur nach kompliziertem Genehmigungsverfahren und nur dann möglich, wenn das Leben der Schwangeren akut gefährdet oder mit dem Tod des Kindes zu rechnen ist. Schwangerschaftsabbrüche gelten als Verbrechen; ÄrztInnen wie ihren Patientinnen drohen hohe Haft- und Geldstrafen.
Die strikte Gesetzgebung treibt jährlich zehntausende Frauen in die Illegalität. Nach Angaben der iranischen Presse werden jedes Jahr rund 80.000 illegale Abtreibungen vorgenommen. Einige ExpertInnen schätzen, dass die Dunkelziffer noch viel höher liegt.

Alternativ fahren die Iranischen Fluggesellschaften derzeit ein anderes Programm zur Anschaffung neuer Airbus. Und zwar geht man mit einer europäischen Fluggesellschaft X eine Kooperation ein. X Kauft die Airbus nagelneu und betreibt sie gemeinsam mit einer iranischen Fluggesellschaft. Nach 3 Jahren übernimmt letztere dann die Maschinen als "Gebraucht"
Dennoch ist es echt assig, daß man aufgrund des US-Drucks keine zivilen Flugzeuge verkaufen will/darf. Die Technik ist nicht sonderlich sensibel und eine Erneuerung trägt massgeblich zur Sicherheit der iranischen Passagiere bei.
Bleibt also der von mir beschriebene Weg, oder der Kauf von neuen Tupulev mit westlicher Avionik. Beides wird derzeit gemacht.

Motamed recalled a comment by the late Founder of the Islamic Republic Imam Khomeini who once said: “For us, Jews are different from Zionists. The Jewish community, like other minorities, belongs to this nation and Islam treats them on a par with other minorities.“

Iran sucht die Selbstmordattentäterin
Eine Frauenorganisation im Iran will Frauen für Selbstmordattentate gewinnen und hat dazu eine öffentliche Registrierung angekündigt. Die Freiwilligen sollten sich am Mittwoch bei einer Versammlung in Teheran für Anschläge melden, berichtete die Regierungszeitung "Iran" am Dienstag.
Die Frauen sollen vor allem für Anschläge auf ultrarechte israelische Juden angeworben werden. Viele Muslime befürchten einen Angriff radikaler Juden auf den beiden Religionen heiligen Tempelberg in Jerusalem.
