Zitat:PLA's first carrier 'ready by 2012'
Blue-water navy plans advancing, US says
Greg Torode Chief Asia correspondent
Apr 01, 2010
China could have its first aircraft carrier operational in two years, according to the most senior US military official in the Asia-Pacific region....
....
edit:
die Insel wird gerade angestrichen

Zitat:Russian carrier becomes “Made in China” vessel prototype?
Published 27 October, 2009, 13:03

If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, then Russia should be very flattered indeed. That’s because China’s new aircraft carrier bears a striking resemblance to an old Russian model.
However, experts say the Chinese will still find it extremely difficult to build an aircraft carrier of their own.
...
Russia’s Varyag is outdated – China
Despite the accusations of hardware piracy in the past, Chinese analysts believe that there will be no need to copy Russian designs in this instance.
“Media hype says China is copying a Russian aircraft carrier. I have to say again, we need to gain experience from others in military technology, but we never copy any specific thing from any country,” that’s the assessment of Ji Zhiye, Vice President, China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations.
“I have seen the Varyag, and actually it is only used as a tourist attraction. Its technology is old-fashioned and it is not advanced enough for our modern navy.” ....

According to 21, reported the latest issue of the Canadian “Chinese Defense Review” magazine, said China has launched aircraft personnel training project, training centers may be located in Huludao.
The article said that as China’s first ship-borne fighter aircraft F -15 manufactured prototype, China will build test base for the Navy, similar to Ukraine’s Navy carrier fighter NITKA as test center. Anscheinend hat China die Su33 1 zu 1 kopiert.

Zitat:China will build 4-6 aircraft carriers, F-15 carrier aircraft has been flight
June 2, 2010 issue of “Jane’s Defense Weekly” magazine published in Washington correspondent Ted – Parsons (Ted Parsons) of the article, the article entitled “China test carrier-based version of F-11B prototype” . Jane’s said that China FYJS military site has revealed a new version of the F-11B photos canard wing and the short of caudal and other features are consistent with the SU -33, Jane’s also noted that China develop its own carrier version of F-11B at the same time, it may also purchase Su -33, is also possible that China’s use of carrier-based version of the F-11B to promote further bargaining with Russia. Jane’s also speculation that 4-6 aircraft carriers in China and the rapid construction of aircraft carrier construction program is perhaps the result of orders for Russian Su -33.
The article first said that Shenyang Aircraft Corporation (Shenyang Aircraft Corporation) airport showed pictures of looks: China now is testing a F-11B fighter prototype carrier-based version of the early.
Jane’s article said that China FYJS military site on May 20 revealed the photos show a new version of the F-11B aircraft, with the front wing Gaixing Ji obvious “duck”-style wing, relatively short caudal (Editor’s Note: China Forum called it “F-15″ carrier-based fighter). These features are produced by the company and the Russian Sukhoi SU -33 line carrier aircraft, and reported consistent with Shenyang over the years trying to “copy” of the model.
Jane’s article goes on to say, the latest pictures in this group before, there is a group of pictures show, the PLA Naval Air Force (PLANAF) forces in the procurement of land (non-carrier) of the F-11B aircraft. In late August 2009, several Chinese military forum for the dissemination of a web site on anecdotes, said carrier-based version of the F-11B has already begun testing new network message is implied, and now may also include slip jump (off) test......

Zitat:China's pro-missile navy sinks carriers
By Peter J Brown
...
The first PLAN carrier is expected to have the keel laid by the end of 2010. A second hull should follow within a year. Both will rely on a ski-jump flight deck configuration, and not the steam catapult-based launch systems used on US carriers.
As for China's purchase in 1998 of the 67,000-ton Ukrainian-built Varyag, it is currently being fitted in the port of Dalian. It will likely serve as a carrier training platform for pilots flying J-15 aircraft until the indigenous PLAN carriers are commissioned around 201
....
"China is more likely to have smaller, less capable carriers suited to air support of surface action groups that are carrying out missions such as sea-lane security beyond the range of land-based air from Chinese bases," said McVadon. "The USN is not a model for the PLAN. Chinese leaders do not contemplate an ability to conduct massive air strikes against naval forces or targets ashore. Carrier aviation as done by the USN does not serve China's purposes. Having organic air available to PLAN units trying to deter attacks on tankers en route to China does make sense."
....
"A series of Hong Kong and Japanese newspaper articles from January 2009 citing Chinese shipbuilding and military sources indicated that the PLA was going to build two new Varyag style carriers, and then two larger nuclear-powered carriers," said Richard Fisher, senior fellow at the Washington, DC-based International Assessment and Strategy Center. "In the past, other PLA sources have indicated to US visitors their desire to build up to six carriers."
